Being Gottlieb Elfers’ first grower he introduced Erica gracilis and developed the still used monorail irrigation system. He was also known for his cordial cooperation with fellow growers and in his honorary work for the horticultural business

He was always persistent in reaching his goals. Even if he had to eat black bread with tomatoes one year long to be able to work in the USA. In 1967 he decided to turn the nursery into a specialized production facility for Azaleas and Heathers. Therefore he bought the facilities in Ottersberg (1969) and Eckstever (1983). Because of his close contact to breeders he was able to grow many successful products.
Thomas Bechtold

His father was sure that he would end up being a managing director of a bank. During one of the main expanding periods he led the company as production manager. This was when the facility Eckstever was established in 1983 and while expanding Ottersberg in 1992.

Anke Bechtold

She already practiced management in her grandfather’s office. She hardly owned a drivers license when she already delivered plants by truck. In 1983 she took over the training program for apprentices at Silber. Currently she is responsible for the introduction of a new working management system (PPM).

Horticultural Technician for Production and Marketing

With six years she was sure to become a grower one day. Her decision was based on roller skating on transport belts as well as climbing on oil tanks. She introduced assortment trolleys at Silber and a new company appearance.
