A variety of accompanying plants are important for planting combinations. Very nice are Gaultheria procumbens which are eye- catching with their bright red berries. Manually selected seeds contribute to healthy young plants. Especially easy is Empetrum, which is a very good ground cover, used together with Calluna vulgaris. Because of its upright habit Erica arborea is used frequently as a structural plant.
